Tanner George, born in the late 1930s, descended from a distinguished yet determined Foundational Black American family in rural Mississippi. The youngest child of a Pastor & School Principal and a Seamstress & School Teacher, Tanner was taught from a young age that poverty was no excuse for a lack of maintaining an immaculate appearance.
Dressing for success was a requirement of dignity. This conservative flare of class that had become a staple within the American cultural fabric. followed him to the campus of Howard University in the mid-1950s, where he refined the sophisticated style that would eventually become the foundation of Tanner George & Co.

2020 — Present
The Concrete Legacy
In 2020, Tanner’s grandson, Tanner George III, embarked on a journey to take what his grandfather embodied and make it concrete. Organized and incorporated under the Tanner George Corporation, the brand evolved from a concept into a full luxury "aesthetics company."
Tanner III poured style and clothier lessons learned from his mother and grandfather into a house of impeccable brands. While simultaneously learning how to cultivate business endeavors from his father and grandfather, to make Tanner George & Co. a luxury aesthetic enterprise. Today, the company specializes in men’s luxury fashion through Chess (Formal & Semi-Formal) and Decorum (Fragrances).
